If there is insufficient organic matter, the bacteria will die and will be used up by other bacteria as food.

One more commonly used treatment is composting. Composting is likewise an aerobic procedure that includes the mixing up of wastewater solids together with sources of carbon such as straw, sawdust or chips of woods. With oxygen being present, the bacteria absorb and break down the wastewater solids and also the added elements of carbon sources. With this particular process, large amount of heat is created.
