In California, having the greatest volume of inhabitants in the United States of America has some public records which you can access in order to research some details regarding the person you have just met. The Department of Justice of California has maintained accounts of criminal records in the state. According to the Public Records Act, accessing public records for the residents of California is made possible with some lawful restrictions. The residents can have a copy of their own criminal histories provided that they will follow the guidelines set by the Department of Justice.

California residents need to submit live scan fingerprints. They can download the form and check the box of "Record Review" as the type of application for the fingerprint scan. Fill up the details asked in the form and proceed to the fingerprinting which is available within the local Live Scan sites. There is a required fee of $25 in order for the office to process your request.

For applicants living outside of California needs to submit a fingerprinting card is required to attach in the application form. The form is different from the forms used by the residents of the state. Included are the name of the applicant, sex, birthday and mailing address of the requester. A processing fee of $25 must be attached in the form of checks made payable to the California Department of Justice.

After all the process, you need to wait for couple of days for the result of your requested Police Reports. The Department of Justice of California will notify you whenever there are some delays in the releasing of results. Some factors might be in the fingerprinting that they have difficulty in verifying. It will take three to seven days to complete such process and fourteen maximum days will be the most. The internet can give you access to search the details of such police reports. But with this technology, you can have your criminal record search in your most convenient way.
